Thomas Moberg is a painter and metalsmith living in Lansing, Michigan, where creates work that explores the intersection of politics and the environment in the American Midwest. He received his BFA in 2D visual art from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point in 2018, after which he returned home to be the caretaker for his terminally ill father, and underwent a three year apprenticeship as a goldsmith and jewelry designer at his family’s shop, the Northwoods Goldsmith. Thomas has had multiple exhibitions with the Center for the Visual Arts in Wausau, WI, and has been an artist-in-residence with Rising Sand Organics in Custer, WI, The Heist in Ripon, WI, and Everwood Farmstead in Glenwood, WI. In 2023, Thomas helped build the community jewelry studios at the Iowa City Fab Lab, and was invited the following year to be a guest lecturer at the University of Iowa, Jewelry and Metals Department by Professor Kee-Ho Yuen. Thomas has been a returning contestant in the annual Paint Grand Traverse plein air competition in Traverse City, MI each year since 2023. His work was most recently exhibited at Artlink Contemporary Gallery in Fort Wayne Indiana, and the Yellowstone Art Museum, in Billings, MT
